This is a gorgeous Royal Doulton, England vintage cup and saucer in a pattern called Glamis Thistle that is very difficult to find.
The pretty teacup and saucer is named for a Scottish Thistle found by Royal Doulton artist Percy Curnow in 1938 at Queen Elizabeth, the Queen Mum's childhood home of Glamis Castle.
The design is hand colored on transferware and signed with a facsimile of P. Curnow's signature. This was the first artist signed bone china design at Royal Doulton.
The Glamis Thistle design is featured an art deco handle, green borders with the green, purple and pink thistles, and a gold foot and trim.
The pretty cup and saucer and has the full Royal Doulton marks with pattern number H 4601.
The cup is 2.65 inches high and the saucer is 5.5 inches in diameter.The gorgeous cup and saucer is in excellent used vintage condition with no chips, cracks or wear.
